On August 9th 2018, the „Spielmacherkonferenz“ will take place in Hamburg, Germany. „Spielmacherkonferenz“ (engl. „Playmakerconference“) is an international conference for innovations, technologies and business around professional football. More than 1.100 participants from the industry, among them representatives from FIFA, Bundesliga, DFB, Borussia Dortmund, La Liga, Arsenal London, adidas and SAP will attend this great event in a perfectly cool location in the harbour of Hamburg.

Part of the program will be the first „European Sports Tech Award“, an international competition for start-ups from the sports tech sector. Interested start-ups can apply via the „Spielmacherkonferenz“. 5 finalist will be invited to pitch in-front of the entire participant audience and the winner will be chosen by a high level jury consisting of Andreas Heyden (CEO DFL Digital), Dirk Ifsen (CEO Perform Germany), Thomas H. Rudy (Founder Whiterock and Capital R Investments) and DAVNIS Sports managing director Dirk Schluenz.

On Tuesday, 17th of April 2018, UK Championship club Leeds United FC conducted the first „Demo Day“ for sports tech start-up companies. More than 80 start-ups from all over the world had sent their applications and 8 companies made it to the final in Leeds.
